The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
In a New Forest yachting town on the edge of the Solent, this Georgian hotel has been beautifully refurbished to create a family friendly, dog-friendly bolthole. Accommodation ranges from snug but chic loft rooms to luxury suites, some with a balcony or dual-aspect windows. Terrace rooms with garden access are perfect for pooches. Paint finishes are subtle and Georgian inspired. The Orangery, with glass apex ceiling, flagged floors and dolly-mixture palette, is a relaxing space for lunch, coffee or afternoon tea. In the evening, enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the softly lit Salt Bar before heading to Samphire – with exuberant pink and purple Colefax & Fowler floral wallpaper – and a menu that includes sharing boards, lobster risotto and lamb shank Massaman curry.
