Good Hotel Guide Review
Victorian social reformer and brewer Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton lends his name to this modish gastropub in Spitalfields. He would no doubt approve of its vintage styling, sustainable values and selection of local beer. Each of the compact, neatly designed bedrooms has a curated selection of books; handwoven artworks, rugs and blankets made by local weavers offset otherwise-plain decoration. Guests can ascend to the roof terrace for 360-degree views across the East End and the City, or head down to the trendy bar and bistro, for friendly service and seasonally changing British-European menus. Whitechapel Gallery and Brick Lane are around the corner. (Underground: Aldgate East, Whitechapel)
