Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Always buzzy and friendly’, this pub-with-rooms in two ‘tastefully refurbished’ Regency town houses near the harbour is a good-natured place, liked by locals and visitors in equal measure. Service is ‘efficient and personable’; a wood-burning stove is lit in cool weather; ‘there might be a couple of obviously home-made cakes on the counter on any given day – a nice sort of unpredictability’. ‘On a festive Sunday, the genial ambience was enhanced by live piano music,’ guests report in 2017. There are heritage shades and vintage furnishings, oriental rugs and fine prints. Bedrooms, each with a large bed, are all different. ‘Good breakfasts’ and informal lunches are served in the bar and restaurant; four nights a week, sample the ‘varied, interesting menu’ at dinner.
