The Fish Hotel
Broadway, Worcestershire
More resort than hotel, this child-friendly, dog-friendly place of escape on the Farncombe estate, on a hill above Broadway, offers a wide choice of accommodation, from chic bedrooms to treehouses and shepherds' huts, with bar/lounges, fine-dining restaurant and a wide range of activities on site.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
With family-friendly treehouses, adults-only shepherds' huts with wood burners and outdoor hot tubs, and rooms in a former coach house and stables, this resort on the Farncombe Estate is scattered over a hill above Broadway. Bedrooms are pared back, chic, decorated in restful pale colours. All have an espresso machine and posh toiletries; the smallest have an over-bath shower. Veranda rooms open onto a private terrace. Bigger suites, two with a patio, sleep up to five. Most romantic is a hideaway hut with private lake, paddle boat and island. In the Scandi-style Lodge, you can eat casually, with dog in tow, from a bar/lounge menu (burgers, salads, fries, ice cream). Or dine in Hook by Martin Burge, where fish features large on a menu of dishes that might include vadouvan-spiced cod Kiev, katsu curry, sticky rice (although they cater for meat eaters and vegans too). There is plenty to do here, with falconry, archery, tennis, wine tastings and cocktail master classes, or just borrow a map from the boot room and go walking with the dog.
