Good Hotel Guide Review
Pigs, lambs and chickens are the nearest neighbours at Nichola and Graham Hawkins’s B&B on a small working farm between Totnes and Dartmouth. The renovated 400-year-old longhouse is surrounded by woodland trails and riverside footpaths; in the old milking parlour, a mini-gallery/honesty bar exhibits the work of contemporary ceramicists, glassmakers, painters and photographers. English oak, farmhouse furnishings and antiques fill the comfortable bedrooms, while fresh-cut flowers bring the gardens indoors. All rooms have teas and ground coffee, fluffy bathrobes, novels and magazines. Farm-fresh produce features at breakfast: sausages and bacon from home-reared pigs; eggs Royale and Benedict from the free-range hens. 4 miles from Totnes.
