The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Steps from the South West Coast Path, Stuart Litster and Kevin Hooper's 'superbly decorated' Jacobean manor house in a small village close to Dartmouth has panoramic sea views stretching over Start Bay. B&B guests come for 'the warmth of welcome' as much as the tea and home-baked cake served on arrival. Overlooking the garden, the lounge has large sofas; a log fire is lit in cool weather. In the main house and a duplex cottage suite, contemporary bedrooms have 'pristine bedding', fresh flowers and biscuits; 'windows open to let in sea air and birdsong'. After a breakfast of 'delicious fruit' and 'beautifully cooked' hot dishes, head for the pine-fringed bay around Blackpool Sands, a 20-minute walk away.
