Good Hotel Guide Review

‘A special place’, Julie and Edward Christian’s B&B is in a ‘beautifully furnished’ 1930s house in secluded grounds overlooking Exmoor countryside. Come up the curving, tree-lined lane; arrive to hospitality that’s ‘second to none’. The traditional bar/lounge is stocked with local beers and gins; light suppers of home-made soups, pâtés and sandwiches, ordered in advance, may be taken here. Individually decorated bedrooms have thoughtful extras: ground coffee, fresh milk, Exmoor spring water. Wake to birdsong and a West Country breakfast – perhaps home-made cheese-and-leek sausages, or Exe valley cold-smoked trout and scrambled eggs. Hampers and packed lunches are available; ask the hosts where to find the county’s best picnic spots. 2 miles S of Dulverton.

Guest comments

'A real gem! The hospitality provided by Julie and Edward is second to none. It is peaceful, comfortable, beautifully furnished. The breakfast is the best ever experienced and, having now stayed on five different occasions, we feel more like friends than customers. The log fire and the chat in the bar is great! All of our likes, preferences and experiences are logged for future reference and to aid our comfort. It is this attention to detail which makes this a special place.
