Good Hotel Guide Review
Attention to detail, peaceful surroundings and cheerful hospitality make Julie and Edward Christian’s ‘beautifully furnished’ B&B ‘a special place’. At the end of a curving tree-lined lane, the 1930s house overlooks Exmoor national park from secluded grounds. Light suppers (home-made soups, sandwiches), ordered in advance, may be taken in the traditional bar/lounge. Thoughtful extras in the individually decorated bedrooms include ground coffee, fresh milk, Exmoor spring water, a silent-tick alarm clock). Mornings begin with a birdsong serenade for a decent breakfast, perhaps home-made fruit compote with Exmoor honey; smoked Exe valley trout; home-made veggie sausage. The hosts know the best local picnicking spots; guests need but ask. Hampers, packed lunches available.
