Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Warm, welcoming and extraordinarily good value for money.’ Guide inspectors in 2019 join the local admiration society in their praise of Jeanette and Gordon Reid’s 18th-century inn on the Dorset/Somerset border. James Cole’s ‘standout’ menu of modern British dishes are served in the rustic, dining room (comfortable seating, a huge fireplace). Enjoy ‘beautifully presented, generously portioned’ plates of beetroot-cured gravlax; honey-glazed duck; harissa cauliflower, Israeli basil couscous. ‘An impressive wine menu.’ Smart, colourful bedrooms overlook rolling countryside, and have a roll-top bath, ‘a wonderfully large and comfy bed’. Breakfast, served communally, features eggs and bacon from the village.
