Harrogate, Yorkshire
A solid presence overlooking the leafy Stray, this Victorian coaching inn has simple, contemporary bedrooms, alluring public spaces, and a restaurant and dining terrace where pub classics mix with pizzas and more adventurous dishes.
Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
A reassuringly solid presence, this Victorian coaching inn is an affordable option in which to stay when exploring Harrogate. Close to the Royal Pump House, Betty's Tea Rooms, the theatre and Valley Gardens, it lies in Montpellier shopping quarter, overlooking the grassy parkland of The Stray. The bedrooms are clean, smart and unfussy, and range from cosy doubles to junior suites. For longer stays, the adjacent apartments are very reasonably priced. Public spaces are striking, with a Paris-chic, metropolitan vibe, heritage wall colours, bespoke wallpapers, chandeliers, plush drapes, gilt-framed mirrors, intimate booths, mood lighting and bold artworks. In The Fat Badger and on a heated terrace, you can dine from an all-day menu of pub classics, venison sausages, salmon Wellington, steaks, pizzas, and more.
