Not so much a restaurant with rooms as rooms with a restaurant, Sarah and Michael Alexiou’s B&B and Michael’s Mediterranean restaurant are housed in the same 18th-century Cotswold stone building, once home to a Lyons tearoom. Bedrooms combine the charm of original features – beams, perhaps an inglenook, bare stone – with modern comforts such as underfloor heating, an espresso machine and eco-friendly toiletries. Ground-floor Snowshill, with roll-top bath and shower, opens onto a private terrace; Sezincote has an antique four poster. Chef Michael’s menus feature all the favourites – mezze, moules, moussaka, char-grilled steak, tzatziki… Breakfast brings locally sourced artisan and farmers’ market produce, served in your room or at the pre-booked breakfast table, with cooked choices ordered the night before.
