Good Hotel Guide Review
In the Teme valley, an area abundant with hops and mistletoe, this refurbished red-brick Victorian coaching inn has ‘plenty of character’. It is run by Barnaby Williams, the ‘hard-working, ever-present’ owner, with ‘friendly, efficient staff’. At once contemporary and rustic, the wood burner-warmed pub has hops hanging from the ceiling, and photographs of its brewing heritage on the walls – join locals here for a pint of real ale or cider. When hunger strikes, sample chef Jacob Vaughan’s inspired dishes, many cooked in the Josper charcoal oven. His imaginative pub grub, served on scrubbed pine tables, might include such dishes as Springfield chicken breast, pear, cider fondant potato. Well-proportioned bedrooms are ‘modern, bright and immaculately kept’. 4 miles from Tenbury Wells.
