Good Hotel Guide Review
Deep in Wiltshire countryside, the River Wylie runs past this Grade II listed Georgian country mansion, now a welcoming hotel and spa. It offers plenty to occupy the whole family from swimming pools and tennis courts to exploration of the Doric temple with rotunda and a Neolithic long barrow in the extensive grounds. Wellies and umbrellas are supplied for rainy days; for indoor types, a board game in the lounge, or perhaps a Rasul mud treatment in the spa. ‘We had a marvellous time.’ Country-style bedrooms, many with verdant views, range from cosy spaces to duplex suites with a little patio; all have comfy seating. British and international dishes are served in the restaurant, or conservatory, where large windows display garden views.
