Good Hotel Guide Review
Named after the scrub-like bushes which cover Corsica and gave their name to the French Resistance, this “very well-run hotel” is a collection of buildings by the sea. It backs on to a busy road, but most bedrooms are quiet. “Our delightful room had a small terrace with sea view, splendid lighting.” “Service and food of the highest order: delicious local fish and game.” Meals are served on the poolside terrace, or in the beamed restaurant, L”Arbousier (long trousers are required for men for dinner). “The charming staff speak English but were willing to indulge our attempts at French.” There are two swimming pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Porticcio, a “thin, boring strip of hotels”, is well placed for forays into the spectacular mountainous interior. “Ajaccio holds the sunshine record for France, 2,900 hours per year,” says the hotel. The airport is 20 minutes” drive away.
