Good Hotel Guide Review
In a medieval village between Avignon and Nîmes, this group of ancient stone houses has been turned, ‘with charm and imagination’ into a luxurious hotel, now part of the small H8 Collection hotels group. ‘Comfortable, with such helpful staff’ (say visitors), it is near the Pont du Gard. The flowery garden, where the ‘high-quality’ breakfasts can be taken, is sheltered from the mistral; the terrace and the beautiful, large swimming pool enjoy wide views over a plain with vineyards. Across a bridge is the beamed restaurant where chef Christophe Ducros offers a lunch menu and a ‘gastronomic’ dinner menu (open to non-guests). Children and dogs are welcomed. Bedrooms vary in size and quality: most are elegantly furnished in shades of white and beige; those in the annexe have beamed ceilings, period furniture and flowery fabrics; some look over a narrow village street. ‘Though two clocks can be heard, this is a peaceful place.’
