Good Hotel Guide Review
“An excellent centre for touring one of the most spectacular areas of France.” In a large park, beneath the cliffs of the mighty gorge of the Tarn (a “fantastic landscape”), this 15th-century château stands right by the river. “A most attractive place”, it is managed by Chantal and Jean Paul Nicot; the chef is Christophe Seiller. Their staff are “very friendly”, says a recent visitor. “Our comfortable mini-suite had modern furnishings: its balcony faced the river.” Some bedrooms are in antique style, with tapestries and painted ceiling. In the annexe, some rooms face the swimming pool and river, and bathrooms have a large sunken corner bath. “Enjoyable meals” are served in the little former chapel, with Gothic fireplace, or on a lovely terrace above the moat; dishes may include médaillon de lotte juste cuit au buerre; Sucré salé du magret de canard a la poire pocheé au vin rouge de miel. “Breakfast was a wonderful spread, including fried eggs.”
