The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
'One of the best hotels (for the price) that we have stayed in,' says a visitor. The Sagnotti family's palazzo,a hotel for over 160 years, is within walking distance of most of the main attractions. Named after the exquisite national Portuguese church nearby, it is 'clean and comfortable', with 'helpful staff' and 'excellent soundproofing'. Bedrooms are 'compact, but well decorated'. 'We have not slept in a better bed, except at home,' one couple wrote. Bathrooms are modern. Airy corridors and landings are paved with marble. There is a roof terrace, where the 'adequate' breakfast is served under lemon trees in good weather (on cooler days it is in a glassed-in area); international newspapers are available. Recommended restaurants: La Campana ('booking recommended; it is popular with locals'), Il Bacaro ('caters more to foreigners').
