If you're looking for a central location, chic interiors and a good price, Praktik Metropol Madrid is the place to stay in. Part of a chain of hotels in Spain, the hotel is set in a building with two other hostels in the historic centre of the city. The rooms, with minimalist white decor and wood floors, have a mixture of vintage and Scandinavian styling; those on the top floor with balconies are the best. Second best are undoubtedly the corner rooms, also with balconies, offering views of Gran Via, although there are only three of those. Some look onto an internal courtyard and don't have much natural light. A definite highlight of the hotel is the rooftop with panoramic views and comfortable seating; there's also a spacious and light lounge. Breakfast, served in the restaurant next door, is extra and by all accounts unremarkable, but there are plenty of other options close by.
