The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. The editors and inspectors do not accept free hospitality on their anonymous visits to hotels. All hotels in the Guide receive a free basic listing. A fee is charged for a full web entry.

Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Formerly Hotel Zandbergen, The Neighbour's Magnolia Hotel is set in a typical 1900s building on a quiet street in Oud-Zuid, the fashion and museum district of Amsterdam. On the surface, the hotel appears basic, but it actually has much to offer: as one of Amsterdam's few remaining family-run B&Bs, it retains a homely feel and warm atmosphere while still offering the perks of a quality hotel, such as Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. The soft pastel-themed decor of the hotel is inspired by the magnolia tree in the next door neighbour's garden (hence the name), and some rooms have balconies or terraces overlooking the garden. The social hub of the hotel is the relaxed “Living Room”, which has an honesty bar with snacks and a selection of books and magazines. A continental breakfast, included in the rate, is served here daily. There's a resident dog, too, who loves to be taken for a walk.
