It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Run by Felix Schibli and Sarah Pente-Schibli, descendants of the founders in 1846, this unpretentious hotel is in a village near Baden. 'Rooms are rustic or modern: ours had a massive sloping rafter, it was reasonably well lit, with a comnpact shower room. It faced the garden at the back, so was quiet. Blankets were provided as an alternative to a duvet. The staff gave us a cheerful stay. Dinner was Swiss cooking with interesting variants.' Breakfast is 'conventional', but 'it did offer seven types of cheese'. There is a swimming pool in the 'extensive, shady' garden. (Charles Goldie)
