Good Hotel Guide Review
Run by Felix Schibli and Sarah Pente-Schibli, descendants of the founders in 1846, this unpretentious hotel is in a village near Baden. ‘Rooms are rustic or modern: ours had a massive sloping rafter, it was reasonably well lit, with a comnpact shower room. It faced the garden at the back, so was quiet. Blankets were provided as an alternative to a duvet. The staff gave us a cheerful stay. Dinner was Swiss cooking with interesting variants.’ Breakfast is ‘conventional’, but ‘it did offer seven types of cheese’. There is a swimming pool in the ‘extensive, shady’ garden. (Charles Goldie)
