Good Hotel Guide Review
Hyde Park is minutes from this handsome 1860s town house hotel – assuming you don’t dally at the many designer boutiques along the way, that is. Part of the Firmdale group, the hotel assumes co-owner Kit Kemp’s characterful stance on contemporary design. Natural materials and earthy tones mix with statement pieces and antique prints in the cosy sitting rooms; original artworks add interest. Each bedroom is highly individual (though good bedside lighting and a powerful shower are a given); those at the front overlook leafy Beaufort Gardens. There is no restaurant, but a short room-service menu of classic dishes (pan-fried sea bass with seasonal greens; a superfood salad) staves off the hunger pangs. Pause for tea mid-afternoon – a Princes and Princesses option with jellies and milkshakes is a treat for younger guests. (Underground: Knightsbridge)
