Good Hotel Guide Review
One of the oldest surviving buildings on the Greenwich peninsula, this quirky historical inn has been updated in lively style with maps, nautical objects and unusual fittings. Seasonal pub food, sharing platters and daily specials (perhaps Serrano ham croquettes, roasted red pepper salsa; ricotta dumplings, chilli, sage, parmesan) are served in the popular dining areas; a menu of real ales, bottled beers, premium spirits and wines makes a fine partner. Accommodation is in compact but cheerful bedrooms individually decorated with vintage furnishings and quirky collections (record covers, clocks, sunglasses, etc). Good details, too: a capsule coffee machine, a Kilner jar of teas, herbal-extract bath products. Convenient for the O2 arena. Staying guests may park for free. (Underground: North Greenwich)
