Good Hotel Guide Review
Off the beaten track, four generations of Verity Butterfield’s family have lived in this ‘impressive’ Georgian house, with ‘divine’ views down rolling meadow to a spring-fed lough. The ‘lovely hostess’ welcomes guests with afternoon tea before an open fire in the homely drawing room packed with family heirlooms, books and an abundance of flowers. The ‘lovely’ home-cooked dinner, served (by pre-arrangement) in an elegant dining room, ‘is a real treat’. Pretty, country house-style bedrooms overlook the garden or lake; two share a ‘wonderful’ bathroom (wooden floors, a shuttered window, vast bathtub, ‘glorious walk-in shower’). At breakfast, soda bread, granola and preserves are all home-made; free-ranging chickens provide the eggs.
