Good Hotel Guide Review
A home-away-from-home, this Victorian villa is in a leafy urban village not far from the city centre. The style-conscious ‘boutique B&B’ (part of the Eclectic Hotels group; see Eleven Didsbury Park, next entry) is stocked with fresh flowers and books to borrow; there are open fires, and sofas to sink into. Prints and statement wallpaper blend well with original features (high windows, delicate cornices) in the individually styled bedrooms; many rooms have a freestanding roll-top bath. Weekends are made for lying in: breakfast is served until noon. At dusk, take aperitifs alfresco on the walled terrace (heated in cool weather). Quick trains take you to the city centre; late at night, a taxi does the job. 4 miles from the airport.
