Good Hotel Guide Review
A short walk from the seafront, photographer Shahriar Mazandi has created an artistic, eco-friendly B&B. This offbeat bolt-hole brims with books, African masks and original art in the two sitting rooms. Restful bedrooms, named after Persian poets, each have a large, comfy bed with organic bedlinen, eclectic decor featuring the host’s own photography, a mosaic-tiled shower in the bathroom; no TV, but plenty to read. The semi-wild flower garden testifies to Shahriar’s Chelsea Flower Show gold medal. Organic breakfasts, eaten in the room, in the bright dining room or out on the bamboo terrace, are sourced locally; choose from fresh kippers, a raw vegan breakfast salad, an Armagnac omelette. Fantastic fuel for exploring Derek Jarman’s garden nearby.
