Good Hotel Guide Review
Facing an expansive green ringed by lime trees in this quaint seaside town, Stephen and Antonia Bournes have refashioned a plain, old inn into a contemporary hotel and restaurant. A coastal theme in the cheery dining room (wood flooring, exposed brickwork, maritime artwork) extends to spruce new bedrooms and apartments in the coach house. Seasonal menus ‘with a French influence’ might include game pie or locally harvested moules frites cooked three ways. In the courtyard: a wood-fired pizza oven and fish smoker for alfresco dining. Residents have use of a private sun trap roof terrace with waitress service. The hotel’s beach hut can be hired by the day (buckets, spades, deckchairs, picnic blankets provided).
