Good Hotel Guide Review
Resurrected with flair, Chris, Rachel and Andrew Rowley’s Victorian hotel has become the sophisticated hub of a small Perthshire village. The contemporary bar and informal dining room draw a convivial gathering of locals and guests for inventive daily-changing menus. Sharing plates, large and small (perhaps venison haunch, horseradish crème fraîche, or monkfish fillet, fennel, rocket, salsa verde), use foraged, home-grown or local ingredients. Vibrantly coloured bedrooms have wide beds draped with locally woven tweeds; some overlook the River Tay; four have a bathroom with a cast iron bath. Breakfast is best walked off in the surrounding glens. The partnership also runs Ballintaggart Farm cookery school nearby.
