Good Hotel Guide Review
In a former grammar school for boys near Tower Bridge, Victorian grandeur has been overlaid with Indian opulence to make a classy hotel. One of a large privately owned portfolio, the neoclassical building’s panelled walls, large windows and stone fireplaces are embellished with blue chandeliers, carved screens, displays of exotic flowers; more privilege than penance, enter the Headmaster’s Room for champagne or cognac, and sight of a spectacular moulded ceiling. Richly embroidered headboards adorn ochre- and sand-coloured bedrooms; many were classrooms and retain soaring ceilings. Baluchi restaurant serves contemporary Indian cuisine in the majestic assembly hall. Eastern and Western therapies in the spa. Underground: London Bridge
