Good Hotel Guide Review
With ‘open views’ across salt marsh and sea, this 16th-century inn has rescued travellers from storms and hunger for over 500 years. This year, its location also impressed Guide regulars. Its oak-beamed bar has warming fires, settles and stone walls hung with vintage agricultural equipment. Seasonal dishes, daily specials and a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options are served in the restaurant and under the conservatory’s 200-year-old vine. Good weather draws diners on to the terrace. ‘Our comfortable room had an ingenious hanging rail.’ Most of the cosy bedrooms, each named after a crew member of a Hunstanton lifeboat, look out to the North Sea. At breakfast, even Fido gets a sausage. An Agellus Hotel (see also The Ship at Dunwich, Shortlist).
