Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Ideal for the young and the young at heart’, this riverside bar/restaurant-with-rooms near the medieval bridge is a popular spot in a ‘delightful little town’. The ‘excellent’ bar has a ‘great selection’ of drinks and ‘interesting’ dishes. In the dining areas (‘the converted-warehouse style gives it a fun feel’), ‘adventurous items’ on the menu might include smoked lamb scrumpets, spring remoulade, radish. Each of the modish bedrooms has its own character: choose between contemporary split-level suites with ‘steep, polished steps’, or cosy beamed bedrooms in the oldest part of the Grade II listed building. Toast your own bread and enjoy the fresh boiled eggs on the breakfast buffet. Outside seating close to the river and with lovely old buildings to look at ‘is a plus’. Part of the small Stay Original Company; see also The Swan, Wedmore, and The White Hart, Somerton (Shortlist entries).
