Good Hotel Guide Review
Surrounded by farms and woodland, the gardens of Will and Lisa Lea’s family-friendly pub-with-rooms are verdant with giant ferns and tiny orchids and contain a lake, an arboretum and wildlife areas. Locals flock to the lively bar, with its piano, settles, wood-burner and beams covered in beer mats, for its real ales and ciders, occasional folk music evenings and classic farmhouse cooking. Chef Nick Tyler’s award-winning fare may also be eaten in the bistro or conservatory. Many of the country cottage-style bedrooms have uninterrupted valley or garden views; one might have a hand-crafted bedhead, another its own private, covered deck area. Unique accommodation is also offered in two ‘tree-top’ safari tents. A full Cornish breakfast fuels the day.
