Good Hotel Guide Review
On a cobbled Georgian square as central as it gets, Nici and Alan Jones’s prime-location B&B stretches across two town houses, with period features and well-considered touches in each. Every room is different: a small second-floor room has a window seat overlooking the courtyard; a spacious suite – the finest in the main house – has a four-poster bed and huge windows peering into the old plane tree in the square. Narrow, winding stairs lead to three more bedrooms in the Jane Austen wing. Sample home-made jams, marmalades and compotes at breakfast, along with plenty of cooked options. The friendly hosts are fonts of local information – starting, perhaps, with the monthly Sunday market of local growers, artisanal producers, makers and crafters on the doorstep.
