Good Hotel Guide Review
Janeites, how quick will come the reasons for approving of Nici and Alan Jones’s ‘very comfortable’ B&B? Swiftly enough, if you book one of the three charming bedrooms, all reached by a winding staircase, in the Jane Austen wing of this Grade II listed Georgian town house. The other rooms, in the main building, have original wood panelling, a mix of antique and contemporary furniture, a honeyed palette. ‘Ours had a good bed and a lovely big bath.’ At breakfast there are local jams, marmalades and compotes; vegetarian options. Close to the Abbey, the Roman Baths and the Pump Rooms – ask the friendly hosts for local information. Dining room. Free Wi-Fi (computer and printer available), in-room TV (Freeview). Background radio. Children welcomed. 10 bedrooms (3 in adjoining building; 2 on ground floor suitable for disabled; plus 1-bedroom apartment). Per room B&B £120–£240. 2-night min. stay at weekends. Closed Christmas.
