Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Absolutely fantastic’, Kathryn and Stuart Dobson’s large Victorian manor house in the heart of Weardale is decorated in fine style. Its red front door opens on to chandelier-lit rooms filled with antique furniture and displays of fresh flowers. In the sitting room, a log-burner; comfy sofas under huge windows gazing across sheep-speckled hillsides. ‘Beautiful’ traditional country-house bedrooms have exposed beams and views; a splendid bathroom with a walk-in shower, roll top bath, underfloor heating; some have a four-poster or half-tester bed. The orangery is an inviting dining spot any time; pre-booking may be necessary for ‘superb’ evening meals.
