Good Hotel Guide Review
Painted an unmissably bright blue, Paddy and Julia Foyle’s good-value B&B in a 200-year-old building above the harbour is minutes from the town centre. It is sister to The Quay House on the waterfront (see main entry), and managed by son Toby and Pauline Petit. The interiors are playfully decorated: white-painted antlers hang opposite gilt-framed portraits, close to a ship’s wheel; a zebra skin is stretched across a wall. In cosy sitting areas, bold black-and-white flooring lies beneath blue ceilings; a large metal lobster cooks atop the wood-burning stove. All but one of the pretty, modern bedrooms look across the harbour. Breakfasts are imaginative and plentiful. An ideal base for walkers and cyclists.
