Good Hotel Guide Review
In a colourful coastal town between the mountains and the sea, Paddy and Julia Foyle’s good-value B&B above the harbour is in a jauntily refurbished building, minutes from the town centre. Sister to The Quay House on the waterfront (see main entry), it is managed by the Foyles’ son, Toby, and Pauline Petit. The 200-year-old building has been painted an emphatic blue; within, playful, modern decor (spot the gold lobster on the wood-burning stove) adds to the fresh, airy atmosphere. Past cosy sitting areas, all but one of the simply decorated bedrooms upstairs look across the harbour. Over an imaginative breakfast, the hosts have much local information to share. An ideal base for walkers and cyclists.
