Good Hotel Guide Review
Its facade an eye-catching blue, Paddy and Julia Foyle’s jauntily refurbished B&B is above the harbour, a few minutes’ walk from the centre of the small market town. Sister to The Quay House on the waterfront (see main entry), it is managed by the Foyles’ son, Toby, and Pauline Petit. The 200-year-old building has been decorated with spirited flair (spot the gold lobster on the wood-burning stove); in the cosy sitting areas, board games, a TV and a DVD player are provided for guests’ entertainment. All but one of the pretty, simply decorated bedrooms upstairs look towards the harbour. Over an imaginative breakfast, the engaging hosts have much local information to share. An ideal base for walkers and cyclists.
