Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Unusually good value’, Emil and Lydia Mock’s modern Appenzeller chalet, says a regular correspondent, is ‘an interesting cross between a B&B and a hotel garni’. It is part of a family home in a residential area. The guest rooms and apartments have separate entrances. ‘All are comfortable, nicely decorated in regional style, with a ceiling partly inlaid with wood. Shower rooms are fine.’ The town centre, with cafés, restaurants and shops, is a short walk away. Indoor and outdoor swimming pools are a 15-minute walk. ‘Slight traffic noise from a highway behind the house; in front is a lovely view of mountains. Breakfast, in an attractive area, includes two kinds of bread, meat, cheese, etc; seconds of everything offered. Several languages are spoken by the family members, and they try hard to meet individual needs.’ Drinks are on sale in the foyer. ‘This combination of price and facilities is hard to beat.’
