The Good Hotel Guide is the leading independent guide to hotels in Great Britain & Ireland, and also covers parts of Continental Europe. The Guide was first published in 1978. It is written for the reader seeking impartial advice on finding a good place to stay. Hotels cannot buy their way into the Guide. Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
Family-run for three generations, this large holiday hotel in the Black Forest provides 'service of the highest quality', says its nominator. A family-friendly place, it has play houses and many activities for children, and exercise programmes for older guests. There is 'a vast spa with world-class facilities'. Many come for the Michelin three-star cooking of chef Claus-Peter Lumpp, but the regular food is 'fabulous' too, and breakfast has 'one of the finest spreads I have seen anywhere'. The décor 'is dated but works well'. The staff in traditional dress 'wear lovely smiles', and the rooms are 'spotless'; some have a terrace or balcony with views of the Black Forest. There is good walking in the forest, 'or just time to relax'. (PS)
