Good Hotel Guide Review
In a well-maintained Victorian villa in a leafy residential suburb, Mary Callan’s homely guest house is a good-value base for the city centre and university. There are books and board games in the drawing room; a complimentary hot whiskey warms the cockles on cool days. Bedrooms (some with views of the Belfast mountains) are supplied with biscuits and reading material. In the morning, wake to an award-winning feast, with home-made raspberry jam, and home-baked soda and wheaten breads. Hot choices include a full Ulster, a veggie fry-up, and porridge with a dash of whiskey. A small supper menu is available Mon–Fri (£20). 1¾ miles to city centre; regular buses stop opposite. 10 mins’ walk to Lagan Meadows (river walks).
