Good Hotel Guide Review
The hotel experts at the Good Hotel Guide
'The Queen of Cotswolds cool, Carole Bamford, has again upped the ante at this sister property to The Wild Rabbit (see Kingham),' writes our cub reporter. The Fox is part of the eco-aware Daylesford empire (the farm shop is a 25-minute walk away). 'You can see it isn't your traditional boozer the minute you walk into a modern, open-plan space, with blond oak bar, opening onto the restaurant with its wall of Critall windows.' 'Seriously special' suites have 'effortless style', a muted palette 'with splashes of brightness in fabric throws'. The Hunting Lodge has 'wooden floors, exposed beams, an enormous bath in the master room, twin beds in an adjoining room, tree stumps upcycled into bedside tables, fresh milk, Bamford toiletries in a good shower room'. The split-level, dog-friendly Den has a four-poster, an in-room bath, floor-to-ceiling windows and a private terrace. Food is 'as special as the rooms. Vegetarian orzo, full of flavour and freshness, followed the perfect tuna tartare.' Dine outdoors in the sunshine on wood-fired pizza with a bottle of Château Léoube from the Bamfords' Provençal vineyard. Everything is 'Foxylicious', as it says above the open kitchen.
