Good Hotel Guide Review
In a Victorian house with sweeping views over Morecambe Bay, this comfortable hotel, run by two generations of the Read family, retains the loyal affection of its many returning guests. ‘Wonderfully old-fashioned’, most of the well-appointed bedrooms have garden and water views. Morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea can be taken warmed by open fires in bay-view lounges; under parasols in the ‘well-tended’ garden in good weather. At dinner, ‘beautifully presented’ dishes might include broccoli, leek, Gruyêre cheese and cream tart; seared and roasted guinea fowl breast, dauphinoise potato. Breakfast is served on linen-dressed tables. ‘Friendly staff’ readily advise on Lake District day trips.
