Good Hotel Guide Review
In green grounds with sweeping views over Morecambe Bay, two generations of the Read family have run this comfortable hotel for more than half a century; in that time, it has retained the affection of its many returning guests, who speak of ‘marvellous’ stays. ‘Wonderfully old-fashioned’, the Victorian house has well-appointed bedrooms, most overlooking the water. Morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon tea can be taken in bay-view lounges or under parasols in the ‘well-tended’ garden. At dinner, ‘beautifully presented’ dishes might include twice-baked gruyère soufflé; roast lamb, celeriac cream, rösti potato. Breakfast is served on linen-dressed tables. ‘Friendly staff’ readily advise on Lake District day trips.
