Good Hotel Guide Review
A fresh, bijou air wafts through this hillside B&B in a baronial pile offering epic views of Oban Bay. Owned by John and Cathy Gavigan, the mansion’s original stained-glass windows, moulded ceilings and fine staircase have been retained, accompanied by modish furnishings, contemporary art. Uncluttered bedrooms have every amenity: fluffy bathrobes and Scottish toiletries in a spacious bathroom, tea-making facilities, wine glasses, a corkscrew; in most, superb views. Unusual breakfasts, served in the turreted dining room, may include porridge with raspberry cranachan or a cheesy spinach frittata. The helpful hosts have ideas aplenty for trips around the Inner Hebrides. The town centre, harbour and seafood restaurants are within walking distance.
