Good Hotel Guide Review

On one of the sunniest stretches of the Scottish coast, John Bochel and Rachel Philipsen ensure that their ‘good-value’ B&B lives up to its name and catches every ray. ‘The panorama of the sea’ filters in through the south-facing building’s glass front; pretty suntrap gardens have plentiful seating. Coastal sands and marine blues cheerfully decorate the bright, well-equipped bedrooms; each is provided with bottled water and bathrobes; four have views over the Moray Firth. A cheese board or charcuterie platter can be arranged for an evening meal. The owners have more than 100 malt whiskies waiting to be sampled. Minutes from the beach, the day might start with sand between the toes before heading back for a generous breakfast.

Guest comments

'Our double sea-view room was light, airy and tastefully appointed. The large bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of room (and two comfortable chairs) for us to enjoy a television programme that we did not want to miss. Breakfast was very good indeed, with a wide choice of cold and cooked options. The full Scottish breakfast was much enjoyed, and an interesting selection of jams and marmalades was available. Service was efficient and friendly. ' - John Charnley - September, 2018
'A domestic feel. Wonderful views across the Moray Firth. Bedrooms are comfortable though not opulent. Extremely helpful owners. Breakfast is a leisurely affair with conversation between guests. A buffet is attractively laid our; hot dishes cooked to perfection. ' - Robert Gower - September, 2018
