Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Delightfully relaxing’, Mike and Carole Hailston’s small Isle of Wight hotel is in a ‘lovely’ clifftop setting, surrounded by a public park with steps leading down to Sandown Bay. The 19th-century gentleman’s residence has plenty of space to relax in sitting rooms decorated with period furnishings; upstairs, some of the traditionally styled bedrooms have glimpses of the sea through trees. In the evening, the host’s short, daily-changing menu of modern and classic dishes is served in the chandelier-lit dining room. ‘The fish – so fresh – was perfect every night.’ Take pause in the secluded private garden – it’s ‘a pleasant place to sip wine’. Long-time Isle of Wight residents, the Hailstons have plenty of local information to share. Direct access to sand/shingle beach.
