Good Hotel Guide Review
Laid-back and friendly, with a side of sweet potato fries, this refurbished 18th-century roadside inn is liked for its superior pub grub and handsome accommodation. The pub and dining areas have an updated rustic look: wide wooden tables and mismatched chairs; leather sofas under old oak beams; sheepskin-covered bar stools; a busy wood-burning stove in cold weather. At lunch and dinner, consider potted Ravenglass crab or a bavette steak grilled over barbecue coals. (Good vegetarian options, too.) Smart bedrooms vary in size and decor. One room has a working record player; another, clear views over Farleton Knott; yet another, squashy armchairs in a generous seating area. Light sleepers might ask for a room away from the road. 5 mins’ drive from M6 junction 36.
