Good Hotel Guide Review
A frisbee fling from the waterfront, Philippa McKnight and David Hoyes’s intimate B&B is a soothing place to be beside the seaside. Striking colours, vintage furnishings and artistic flourishes complement rather than compete with the house’s original Victorian stained-glass panels and fireplaces. There’s a fabulously lush garden; an airy sitting room with plenty of books. The spacious bedrooms, all elegant contemporary hues, some with painted floorboards, have a king-size bed and thoughtful extras (a refreshments tray, bathrobes, eco-friendly toiletries); one has an antique chandelier, hanging hooks reclaimed from the Savoy’s cloakroom in London. Breakfasts keep food-miles low and creativity high: perhaps Mexican tortillas with hot salsa and fried eggs.
