Good Hotel Guide Review

‘Friendly, smiley staff’ contribute to the ‘extremely enjoyable’ atmosphere of this traditional hotel overlooking the sea. It has been owned and run by the Barlow family for more than 40 years. From the golf course to the swimming pool, spa and play areas, there’s entertainment for all ages. ‘Our time there was a lovely mixture of walks, outings and competitive bridge after dinner,’ says a Guide reader this year. Many of the ‘beautiful, well-appointed’ bedrooms have fine coastal views; some have a balcony. ‘Imaginative’ daily-changing menus and ‘very good breakfasts’ are served in the award-winning restaurant. ‘There was good choice at dinner. The first and last courses were especially delicious.’ 3 miles W of Padstow.

Guest comments

'Perhaps no family touch but the staff were superb; training, welcome and warmth are outstanding. Housekeeping very good. Our room was large; comfy bed; good bedside lighting, but no light above the chairs. Lovely dinner one night, quite good bar meal the next. Breakfast was very good. ' - Susan Jenkinson - October, 2017
'Returning after an interlude we found the facilities equally as good and the dining this time was enhanced by very professional staff. An exceptional self-service cold table for first course, on three nights a week, had an abundance of seafood. Our room was spacious, pleasantly furnished, with comfortable beds, and well equipped. The bathroom had a good shower over the bath. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. ' - Mary Coles - June, 2017
'Always a pleasure to come back here. Comfortable room with a terrace overlooking the bay. sunshine every day, good food, swimming pool etc. Good service from well trained young staff. ' - Bill Wood - April, 2017
'Lovely to return to this family-run hotel. We booked with another couple, one of whom is disabled. The hotel were kind enough to do a bit of rearranging in the dining room so that we could eat on the upper level to save the difficulty of navigating steps. We found the visit most enjoyable. The food as always was fine, and service good from well-trained young staff. Easy access to golf, tennis, surfing and the dining delights of Padstow and Rock. ' - William Wood - June, 2016
