Good Hotel Guide Review
In a pretty village five miles from Sherborne, chef/patron Sarah Lethbridge and her husband, Anthony, are the hands-on hosts at the country pub they restored nearly ten years ago. Colourful, individually styled bedrooms are provided with towelling bathrobes and tea- and coffee-making facilities; some rooms look over the croquet lawn. There are newspapers to browse in the snug, and broad countryside views from the terrace; in cool weather, the wood-burning stove is lit. Sample the varied menu in the restaurant at lunch or dinner. Typical dishes: goats’ cheese fritters, wild garlic salsa verde; roasted lamb rump, honey roast parsnips, spring cabbage; meats cooked in the Josper charcoal oven.
