Good Hotel Guide Review
Away from the hordes of the city centre, retreat to this quiet, contemporary B&B owned by cellist Timothy Hugh and his wife, Kathryn. Robert and Lize Briers are the managers. An eclectic mix of Asian antiques, contemporary art and artefacts catches the eye in this Victorian stone house; there’s seating in the garden for a sunny day. Modern bedrooms, named after the Hughs’ favourite composers, have a marble bathroom and plenty of inviting touches – a faux-fur throw or velour cushions, for instance, plus a capsule coffee machine in superior rooms. Some rooms, too, have ‘fabulous views’ over the Royal Crescent. Freshly baked croissants are among the options at breakfast. 10 mins’ walk from the Roman Baths.
