Good Hotel Guide Review
Through a classical arch, on a narrow central lane, this boutique city hotel has bags of character and a genial atmosphere. Well-equipped bedrooms are spread across the three upper floors – no lift, but friendly staff help with luggage. Each room, some compact, all with vividly patterned wallpaper, has great basics (tea- and coffee-making facilities; oversized towels, a power shower), plus quirky touches (stag-head wall hook, a Bakelite telephone). Light meals, hot drinks are served in the lounge; in the bar, Bath ales and hand-mixed cocktails. Breakfast has bacon butties, pancakes, leaf teas. The secluded courtyard offers a contemporary take on the thermal baths – a private hot tub (extra charge).
