Good Hotel Guide Review
A peaceful villa formed from two Victorian houses ‘within walking distance of everything’ – but guests might not want to leave. The hotel (part of Bird Group) stands in ‘pretty gardens’ and overlooks the seven acres of Henrietta Park. On arrival, visitors receive ‘a friendly welcome’ from ‘delightful’ managers Caroline Browning and Jean-Luc Bouchereau (and dog, Muttley), along with ‘a generous tea’ including home-baked cakes. All around, well-chosen antiques and interesting prints. Individually decorated bedrooms have home-made shortbread and fresh milk. Breakfast brings a complimentary Buck’s Fizz, paired with, perhaps, yogurt compotes, croissants, ‘proper kippers’. The hosts offer informed dinner recommendations in the centre of Bath.
