Good Hotel Guide Review
In ‘pretty gardens’, overlooking Henrietta Park, this peaceful villa formed from two Victorian houses is ‘within walking distance of everything’. The ‘friendly welcome’ from ‘delightful’ manager Jean-Luc Bouchereau includes ‘a generous tea’ with home-baked cake (and a box of treats for doggy guests); all around are well-chosen antiques and interesting prints. Smartly decorated bedrooms – some snug, others generously sized – are stocked with home-made shortbread and fresh milk. In the chic new bar, morning coffees and afternoon teas give way to custom cocktails; breakfast brings Buck’s Fizz paired with, perhaps, compotes, croissants and ‘proper kippers’. Sister hotel Roseate House is in London (see Shortlist entry).
