Good Hotel Guide Review
A farmhouse retreat for foodies, this informal B&B, in a rural setting of meadows, woodland and oak-lined streams, mixes handsomely rustic bedrooms with convivial feasts rustled up in an open kitchen. It was set up by two chefs – April Bloomfield, of New York’s Spotted Pig, and Tom Adams, of London’s Pitt Cue. Four nights a week, crowd around the ten-seater table for the single-sitting set dinner, cooked using home-smoked, -cured and -pickled ingredients, local produce and wild food foraged from the surrounding estate. Uncluttered bedrooms are countryside fresh, with views of Dartmoor on the horizon. Breakfast, naturally, is a feast: home-made yogurts, home-baked breads, freshly milled oats and grains, and much more home-cooking besides. A restaurant is planned; cooking workshops are regularly organised. 6 miles from Launceston.
